Self doubting means doubting ones own ability to accomplish something. Even the most confident people are bound to experience it as it is related to our thinking and circumstances. Lack of confidence, no appreciation, a few failures etc., can be held responsible for self doubt. Here are some ways to overcome self doubt.

1. Avoid the use of negative phrases and words

The seeds of self doubt are sown the moment you start thinking words like maybe, I can’t, not sure, I am not capable of doing this, etc. It’s not possible to avoid the use of these words and phrases completely, but you should identify them early and minimize their use as much as possible. Make a conscious effort to think and speak positive and over a period your self doubt will reduce.

2. Talk it out

You might have one or more persons in your life who believe in you as much as you do, or probably even more. Whenever in self doubt just pick up the phone and dial that person’s number. Rehearse the situation in front of him/her, discuss what is bothering you, this talk will surely soar up your spirits.

3. Talk to yourself

While talking to others may be helpful, talking to oneself is the best solution to overcome self doubt. No one can understand you better than you. When self doubt arises stand in front of a mirror and tell yourself repeatedly that you can do it, you are no less than anybody, and you can achieve anything you want. Praise yourself everyday and see the difference.

4. Take a break.

If you are not making any headway in a particular matter or a project, let it be for a while, take a break from it and concentrate on something totally different.

5. Balance between self connect and world connect

This is very important. It’s good to adjust and connect to the others, but don’t make this is a habit. This way others will never take you seriously, and you will develop self doubt. So always express your point of view, give your opinion and believe and stand by your choices and decisions.
