With all the running around required today, stress is obvious and natural. That, however, does not mean that it is not harmful. Coping up with stress and effective destressing methods are absolutely necessary. Here are a few easy ways to destress yourself.

1. Move

Move around to get rid of all that anxiety. Shake it out, run, just don’t sit still and let stress grow on you!

2. Breathe

When you feel calmer after shaking it off, sit still and breathe. Think about nothing but your breath. This will take your mind off whatever it is that is stressing you!

3. Exercise

Find time to incorporate some exercise regime in your routine. The better the body feels, the more the toxins leave the system, the less stressed you feel.

4. Indulge

When stressed, dig into your favorite snack. A candy bar, chocolate, ice cream, a greasy pizza, or whatever it is that makes you feel like heaven.

5. Reflect

At the end of the day, before you go to bed, think about your day, and what caused stress. Figure out how you could have handled it better, and try to practice that.

6. Talk it out!

Call up your “bestie” or “your bro” and yap it all about the pain that you are experiencing because of someone/something. Stress grows if you keep it in.

7. Clean

When you are stressed due to a lot of pending work load, clean the house/work desk for 5 minutes. You will feel better as the clutter around you disappears.

8. Music

There is a song for every occasion. Find out what songs relax you, and keep such a playlist handy 24×7.

9. Confront

If the stress is due to a person, tell him/her that he/she is a pain to you! Be straightforward. After all, if you won’t tell him/her, he/she will never figure it out!

10. Meditate

Spend just two minutes every morning focusing on the positive things in your life, and on everything that is good in the universe. Your tendency to feel stressed will reduce eventually.

Stress is a state of mind. If you identify you are stressed, and spend a minute to discover the root cause of that stress, you will be able to conquer it. You have all the power to control what controls you!
