What is it that motivates you to get out of bed every morning? Is it the drive to be successful; successful in your work, great at your relationships and an overall hit amongst friends and foes? Do you ever stop to think if success brings about some changes in you?

Positive changes through success

For some human beings, even moderate success can bring about a world of changes. It turns them into better human beings who believe in doing good and whose mantra is to do good for others. Success turns these people into better human beings who care about people around them as they too have known and witnessed the difficulties of life.

Negative changes through success

Success will affect you adversely and turn you into a different human being altogether only if it is intrinsic in your nature to be self-centered. A selfish person will eventually become more selfish. She/he will become the center of their universe and will lose out on the essential bonds of life. Such a person will use their success as a weapon against fellow human beings. They will become conceited and look for opportunities that will further propel them towards success and will jeopardize the welfare of others.

How exactly does success turn you into a different person?

Success cannot turn us into anything unless we don’t choose to. That is the beauty of being human. We are given the choice; to remain what we are or to change for the good; to become better human beings. In fact, the success that we find in our lives is actually a measure of the kind of human beings that we are. For example, personal success only comes to those who are good at heart and know what it means to care for other people. In the same manner, professional success is only available to those individuals who worship their work and do it religiously; giving up at nothing.

In a nutshell, our success doesn’t make us who we are but it is we who are solely responsible for our success!
