Advice is easy when given but difficult to be followed. True to the statement, the person who is giving advice can go on explaining the input in any way he/she wants, irrespective of the relevance of the situation or the problem. But, following advice is not equally easy. However, it can be be made easy to follow advice if you keep certain things in your mind. Some of them are listed here.

1. Go to the right person

Advice is the only thing in this world that comes for free from anybody. When you are in a situation and you desperately need advice to understand the problem from a third angle, the person you choose to get advice from is the most important. You should opt for the right person before you can proceed any further on the situation. When this activity is done correctly, this means that you are set to proceed in the right direction to follow the advice.

2. Keep an Open Mind

A person, who wants to listen to an advice, should primarily keep a very open mind for letting in thoughts/ideas given by the speaker who advises on the situation. An open mind helps a person to understand and realize the importance of the advice the speaker is providing him/her with.

3. Never Interrupt

Patience to listen and allowing the speaker to complete what he/she wants to advice in all situations is equally essential. Frequent break in conversations and arguments might not be an effective way to listening to the advice.

4. Ask Questions

If you feel that the speaker who is providing you with advice may have some irrelevance in his/her thoughts for the advice he is providing you with, wait patiently until the speaker completes his/her talk. Then present him/her with the set of questions you might have pertaining to what he/she has said just now. This way, the advice given is taken into the thought process for both the speaker and the listener.

5. Follow the advice!

After you have received the advice from the speaker, you should immediately do self-analysis on how much you need to take from it. After the self-analysis has been done from your end, draft a plan on how you are going to achieve it in a stage-by-stage manner.
